Research from bench to bedside
Design innovative therapies
Interdisciplinary research teams
Dear Visitors,

Welcome to the Comprehensive Childhood Research Center at the Dr. von Hauner Children’s Hospital!

Driven by the passion to improve clinical care for children with rare and common diseases, our interdisciplinary research teams collaborate on a variety of themes centered on pediatric health issues. We focus on studying biological factors governing child development as well as on designing innovative therapeutic strategies.

We are embedded in national and international networks and very grateful to all supporters – without the help from various funding agencies and generous philanthropic support we could not move forward and serve our patients by creativity and innovation.

Science for children is a great investment into a healthier future. At CCRC, we resume this responsibility and enthusiastically embrace novel opportunities to shape the future of pediatrics!

Sincerely,

Prof. Dr. Christoph Klein

Approximately 200 publications are published annually in scientific and often high-ranking journals (cumulative impact factor approx. 1,000). The Children's Hospital is currently part of five DFG Collaborative Research Centers (CRC914, CRC 1054, CRC 1371, TRR 338 and TRR 332) and annually spends third-party funds amounting to approximately 15 million Euros.

The Children's Hospital is orchestrating the design of the new German Center for Child and Adolescent Health for the Munich site. With the Hauner Comprehensive Childhood Research Center, the hospital has a modern research center that enables independent scientific working groups to conduct clinical as well as cellular and molecular biology research.

Clinical Research

Clinical Studies at the CCRC Hauner

Overview: all clinical studies 2023

At our comprehensive childhood research center, numerous clinical studies are under way. Children constitute an especially vulnerable group of patients. Therefore, clinical research must respect highest ethical standards. In view of increasing complexities with respect to regulatory frameworks, clinical research involving pediatric patients at the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital has been put under the auspices of the interdisciplinary pediatric study center (Hauner iPSC). The Hauner iPSC assists physicians in designing and preparing a clinical study, helps with budgetary issues, provides harmonized quality control and risk assessment strategies, establishes links to strategic partners such as the local Institutional Review Board as well as regional and national authorities. The Hauner iPSC is part of the newly established EU-funded platform for pediatric studies.
